Jacques Voyemant leads his own original 7-piece group known simply as the Jacques Voyemant Septet. This group represents the very best of modern original jazz from some of L.A.'s top jazz artists. The debut CD is entitled Arrival and features 9 of Jacques' original compositions while displaying the improvisational talents of pianist Alan Pasqua, multi-instrumentalist Bob Sheppard, bassist Dave Carpenter, vibraphonist Billy Hulting, drummer Dave Tull and percussionist Brian Kilgore.
With many years experience as a freelance instrumentalist, Jacques has performed, toured and/or recorded on six continents with a long list of leading and respected artists. Most notably, Grammy award-winning singer Michael Bolton, Latin jazz artist Poncho Sanchez, jazz trumpet great Tom Harrell, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Paul Anka, Al Jarreau and such jazz luminaries as Dave Brubeck, Clark Terry, Rosemary Clooney, Bobby Shew, Eddie Daniels, Ernie Watts and Larry Coryell. Jacques is a member of the Luckman Jazz Orchestra (deemed "one of the country's finest musical organizations" by L.A. Times' jazz critic Don Heckman). He is also a featured soloist with guitarist/composer Bruce Lofgren's Jazz Orchestra, legendary trumpeter Buddy Childers' Big Band and the Bobby Matos Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble. Jacques recently joined the Clare Fischer Big Band, Johnny Mandell Big Band and, for their 2005 European tour, the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.
Jacques was a member of the 2007 Grammy Awards Pre-telecast Orchestra, which featured guitarists Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. He also recently joined the Billy Vaughn Orchestra for their 2007 summer tour of Japan.
Equally comfortable in the classical genre, Jacques has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pasadena Symphony, Los Angeles Symphonic Camerata, New West Symphony, Debut Orchestra and for several years as principal trombone and soloist with the Santa Monica Symphony.
His trombone playing can be heard on numerous motion picture sound tracks such as: Get Smart (2008), Spider-Man 3, Legends, Drumline, The Ladykillers, Windtalkers, Lost & Found, The Rocketeer, Mobsters, The Thirteenth Floor and such television shows as the hit series FRIENDS on which Jacques actually appeared playing his trombone. He has also been a member of many theater pit orchestras for Los Angeles runs of shows such as: The Full Monty, 42nd Street, Annie and the North American tour of Crazy for You.
